FWIW: I used two Marine Alloy removable brackets for the platform on my '77 Martinique and used large washers for backing. So far, after almost 10 years, no problems.
My '93 SN also has two Marine Alloy (factory) removable brackets, but also has a small clip angle to support the center of the platform. Platform just rests on this angle, no fasteners. The '93 has 1/4" thick aluminum backing plates. Doing it again, I would use backing plates. |

The removable feature for the swimstep comes in very handy,... parking in tight spaces, cleaning, oiling...try to work it into your fabrication. It will make life eaiser down the road.

Thanks for the pic Captan1. That is the best pic that shows the underside of the platform I have seen so far. Now to see if I could have something fabed up cheaper than the $199 for the alloy marine ones. Although I do like the removable aspect of them.

Swim platform brackets
I have 3 stainless steel brackets, 78 Nautique. This is the only way I know how to post pictures, how do we get them to display without going to a URL? |

I believe they are sold as single assemblies, which means you need two for a total of $199.00.

Well, I got an email from alloy marine regarding the price "Thank you for your interest in our products. The price of each set, which includes the transom plate and the bracket arm, is $ 99.50 each."
Now the question is, is that per side? $199.00 for two bracket assemblys? |

Anyone know the price of the brackets from alloy marine? And would two be enough for a '78 nautique? I have tons of ipe that I'm going to use to build the platform, just don't know what to do about the brackets.

Shaughn,
That would be great to see where the bolt holes should be if you've got some pictures handy. I'm sure that the Nautique and Tique setups would be similar. Thanks |

Jared,
Some dimensions would be great as I don't have a clue as to how this was done at the factory. I might make some backing plates like those that you have. I'm sure that I can figure out the hole spacing when I find some brackets. I am curious as to what the overall size of the brackets is and what the spacing is between the brackets on the boat. Maybe I'll get lucky and find some brackets and a platform. Thanks for the information. Any bit helps. |

I just bought a 78 Nautique that I'm restoring and it has only 2 brackets also. I'm not sure, but I beleive they are aluminum. Last weekend I gutted everything from the boat including; floor, fuel tank, boyancy foam, vent, blower, and most of the hardware at the transom. I can see right down where the brackets are installed and (if I recall) there are 2 plates behind the brackets on the inside of the trasom that hold the brakets from the inside. I would suspect you could have some made from stainless steel, or aluminum at a fabrication shop. Let me know if you'd like me to try to get you some dimensions to mimic if you decide to do that. Good luck with your boat!

I added a platform to my '77 Martinique and used two removable aluminum brackets from Marine Alloy. I do not have any support in the middle and have not had problems in over 13 years. Many applications, including my '93 SN use two brackets with an angle in the middle for a bit more support. I used large heavy SS washers as backing without problems, but an aluminum or SS would be even better.

I am looking for a ski platform and brackets for my '75 Ski Nautique. I have searched the archives, but really haven't found the information that I'm looking for. How many brackets did this style of boat have under the swim platform? I've seen some with two and some with three. I'm guessing that the hull design is mostly the same for the years between '70 and '80. Can anyone with a Ski Nautique between these years shed some light on this subject? I'm also wondering if the brackets use backing plates of some sort. And a source for the brackets and platform would be excellent if anyone has recommendations. I currently have the ladder, but am ready to replace it with the teak platform. Any information would be great. Thanks
