Upwards of $100,000 only gets you the fiberglass 247, that thing is about $250,000. If you got the money to have them build it then I don't think having someone maintain it for you is an issue. I've been watching this thing for a few weeks, amazing work, no screws just plugs and a bunch of 5200 holding it together. Looks like there is even a touch screen for the dash. The Mastercraft should be intresting, I wonder what they will come up with for the to make all the billet aluminum even more expensive. These guys need to start a TV show like American Chopper but for boats. Lol

Growing up in North West Montana and living on Flathead lake I used to see a number of Stan Crafts on the lake. Originally Stan Craft was in Summers Montana right on the the lake in Summers Bay. My father was born in Summers Montana. In the late 60's and all thru the 70's their was a older duffer in Woods Bay that had a mint Stan Craft with a big Ford in it, And a center mount pylon. once or twice a summer he would get it out and pull a few of us skiing in the bay. was my firts experiance skiing with a direct drive inboard. have been thru the old Stan Craft Shop in Summers many a time. they have since moved their shop over into Idaho. great Boats.

Hobby Boats can be expensive when the hobbyist is limited on their own skill and expertise.

Thin layers of SOLID planking NOT plywood molded around a form fully encapsulated in epoxy to create a one piece watertight boat that will last 10 fold over a plank on batten boat like they used to build before modern boat building materials were available. In other words, a wood boat built to last with minimal maintenance. A plank on batten boat, even a well built one like a Stancraft, will need attention to keep it looking good. Moisture and humidity changes will swell and shrink the planks causing open seams, loose screws, popped bungs, etc. A cold molded boat is not as susceptible to these problems because they are fully encapsulated in epoxy. Check out van dam boats everything they build is cold molded. Plywood boats is what Correct Craft used to build but not today's master boat builders. |

I would rather see a modern wood ski boat being built cold molded instead of plank on batten but nice work non the less. Stancraft does know what they're doing but the buyer better be aware of what they're getting into when they plunk down the cash because that's just the beginning.

I've been watching this build and the updates on Facebook for a while and thought I;d bring it up here. Forgive me if it's already come up...
Pretty amazing what these guys produce, always be on the cutting edge and their boats/creations are BEAUTIFUL. They hit the nail on the head if you ask me...tastefully done and fully functional. And look what is coming next.... |
