RWP = "raw water pump"
BTW, If you did some reading via the search feature, you'll find a thread that I wend over 20 years on a RWP impeller!! It's true!! But, i never used silicone on the cover plate faces ether!! The key is, NEVER run them dry!! |

What is the RWP? I replaced the impeller once but want to do it again since it has been a few years. Last time a now closed marine shop in Napa dug through parts to match mine. I never really knew what I bought.

Frank, You never said what the problem is with the RWP??? When you had it apart, what did you find? What's up? BTW, if you get the Sherwood impeller kit, it will come with a multitude of gaskets and even some "O" rings. Their impellers fit many different models of their pumps. Tubing and silicone huh!! We defiantly need to get you some therapy!! |

Peter, I have to confess, I glopped the silicone on there. Had no gasket. Since I'm coming clean here I might as well go all the way...I sometimes tow tubes for the kids. There I said it! Frank

Frank,
That does look lke a Sherwood pump from the picture so if so, you're in luck. Looks like a PO glopped it up with silicone!!! Not needed and "I hate silicone"!!! |

It looks a lot like this. I know, its a lousy picture. I guess I will take it apart and measure the cavity to see what Sherwood says. Thanks again Peter. Frank

Frank,
What are you looking for? Impeller(s)? Remove the end plate off the impeller housing. Sometimes the model is stamped there on the machined face. If you're looking for impeller(s) you may need to measure the impeller cavity and use Sherwoods cross reference guide. It's on their web site. Post some pictures of it as well. Impellers |

How do I know which waterpump is on my boat? The boat is a 66, the engine is a 401 Buick nailhead, the pump doesn't seem to have any external labeling. What should I be looking for?
