The "Classic" class is any boat built between 1943 and 1975 inclusive. I don't know of another site where you could see more CC's than CCfan. Other boats yes but you sure don't want anything besides a CC!!

Nice pipe, very clean, By the way what year boat is that in the back,. After rebuilding my 86 I have found a new hobby, I want to rebuild a classic but not sure which year or model is considered to be "the classic"
Unlike a 69 camaro or 67 mustang The classic year on the boat has me guessing Is there a site with a bunch of models and pictures besides this one of course.

I'm absolutely sure it would as long as the Dorque putting it in is ether you or myself!! The only problem is the special fittings needed. They aren't available like they were years back.

Only if it's been anodized. Try to find it in shorter lengths and I feel you will have a problem.

One thing I have figured out at this point of the restore whatever you think it can be done for in dollars and some cents add a lot more.
   
I'm glad to here you found some SS tubing and didn't go with the aluminum.

Gary is correct that you do not want to flare the ends. You'd never get the exhaust hose on!!

Did the salvage yard have any idea of what the SS type was? Many have even used carbon steal tubing but it it's last on my list. If SS, I always recommend 300 series and not the 400 "muffler" grade.

Don't flair them,put them on with double clamps and stagger the screw part like these-

It was just a question. I already have 8' of 3" stainless. And yes I did pick it up at a salvage yard. I was wondering if I should take it and have it flared. Or what would be the proper way to install to prevent leaks?
One thing I have figured out at this point of the restore whatever you think it can be done for in dollars and some cents add a lot more.

Go with straight pipe!! You are already used to the sound since you've mentioned the baffles are blown out of the old mufflers. They really only knocked off I believe around 10 Dba anyway.

Yes, Copper is #1 on my list!! I just mentioned it in another thread that it does have the best tone.

ya i know u can repair them, i did that already a few years ago. the original ones are seamed in the middle and cracked..again. so im taking on water..so i thought id finally break down and buy new mufflers..
i talked to correct craft and they said the Verna mufflers are fine and they have been installing them for a while now. i just didnt know if there was any advantage to go with stainless or whatever..like maybe a power difference or something...if you go with straight pipes..instead of a muffler..or is it better to go with stock mufflers..i pretty much have straight pipes now because i know my old muffers are blown thru and dont have any baffles, they are the original ones...i guess 25 years on a set of mufflers isnt to bad..ha
anyway, thats about it...thanks Gary

I've grown to dislike the tone of pvc because the base budget centurians were shipped that way, pains to hear a nice boat sound like that,
Muffler, copper, or all hose, sound better than pvc.

If you decide to replace with stainless or copper tubing, check your local salvage yard, sometimes you can find a real treasure.
I have about 8' of the 3" stainless from one local yard and paid all of about 12 dollars. Im not sure what mill it is, but it is thick enough to stand on.

Sorry I didn't mention the PVC option in my choices of muffler replacement. It's not #1 on my list since I'm still concerned about the heat even though you used scd. 80. I've run plenty of the 80 in the plant up to 12" and we have had issues with it. It works good until you get up into the higher temps. It's the return lines (150 *F) and above where we see the problems. The exhaust temp of a typical DD runs better than that temp!! Of course, you will not see the pressures we do!!! Still. PVC even though it"s scd. 80, I do not recommend it. Yes, I feel that the boys over at White Lake are smoking something in that back room at times!!!!

One thing for fact, is I do know that their numbers are are all off as far as who the oldest CC dealership is!!! THEY ARE NOT!!!!!!

What's wrong with the old ones? You can repair them!! BTW, most here will remove them and replace with SS, copper, fiberglass tube or exhaust hose.

are these any good?
they only make 40in long. 3in in/out.
is there any performance difference?
