A 747 was halfway across the Atlantic when the captain got on the loud speaker, "Attention, passengers. We have lost one of our engines, but we can certainly reach London with the three we have left. Unfortunately, we will arrive an hour late as a r
esult." Shortly thereafter, the passengers heard the captain's voice again, "Guess what, folks. We just lost our third engine, but please be assured we can fly with only one. We will now arrive in London three hours late." At this point, one passenger became furious. "For Pete's sake," he shouted, "If we lose another engine, we'll be up here all night!" If you're still looking for a strainer, I have one from an 87.

Thanks poobah for the info. I really like the older ones because the hoses hook to the bottom instead above the bowl. They worked great for flushing with a hose and winterizing. not really in bad water, but a strainer catch any grass, moss, etc. that lakes have in them. Just a great idea to have one on any inboard in my opinion. When I had my 83, you would be surprized just how much grass and stuff the filter would catch before it got to the motor. Made a believer out of me!

You may want to consider one of these. They are what's being used currently and they do not seem to have the gasket problem like the big old ones do. Do you boat in bad water? RW strainers weren't being installed until the early 80's. BTW, they are inexpensive and available at McMaster. |

Looking for a water strainer that has the clear round top with the wing nut in the center. I had an 83 ski nautique and my buddy had a 85 SN and they both had this kind of strainer in them. I have a 81 tique now and would like to put this same kind of strainer on it. Anyone out there have one for sale??
Thanks, Jackie |
