Thanks,
I put 4 3/16 rings of the gortex, it seems to loose to me rudder turns with no pressure at all and has about a 1/16 of slop, I will try tightening some more but it is pretty tight. On another subject the ARE shaft does not come with a slip ring is it not needed. I am not sure what it is really called but it when around the other shaft and tightened with a set. One more the new props seem so thin I was worried about the reinstallation using the old board trick, Would it be better to use two people on the ARE and get both nuts tight at once. Mike |

Mike,
Just "cram the rings in there!! The more the better but do leave yourself some room for adjustment. Don't worry about getting it to tight as mentioned earlier - the rudder port is not constantly rotating!! |

Going to reinstall rudder and repack. Man I need a tutorial. I took it apart 9 months ago and am a little turned around on zeroing out the steering and which way is the best for reinstall. I was also able to get a machine shop to straighten rudder. Existing packing had 5 rings in it I can remember my 83 taking that many.?
Thanks Mike |
