The hull ID on a '72 would be located on the capacity plate near the throttle. The serial number is likely to be "SN" followed by 4 digits.

Every state handles titles differently. The ones around here (CT, MA, NY) do not title boats at all, so there may be a process already in place that would allow you to register a title-less boat. Here, a bill of sale and a previous registration will suffice.

Does anyone know where correct craft put the serial number back in 1972. It's not on the back of the boat.
