Kevin,
The aluminum and stainless are disimilar metals, which naturally creates corrosion. Salt water excelerates the process. That's were anti seize comes into play. |

Because theyre lagged through a composite stringer into an aluminum backer? Thats a possibility. No antiseize on my '90 though. I found remnants of silicone on my '90- I found no traces of quality sealant like 5200. |

I thought that too about the anti-seize, Ed, but why would you put anti-seize on what are essentially lag bolts that attach the aluminum engine/transmission frames to the boat? Just curious.

It's probably 3M Marine 5200 if it's sticky. If it feels like rubber, it's silicone. The silver is more than likeky anti seize.

I am wondering if anybody knows what the goop is that CC uses on screws in my 1993 Ski. It seems like it is just a clear silicone sealant for the most part. It looks like the screws that hold on the engine mount have silver-colored gel of some sort on them.
Any ideas are appreciated. Kevin |
