Winterizing ?

Yep that is it. As the bucket approached empty I also fogged it through the carb to coat the cylinder walls. Kind of sad putting her away for the winter.

There are volumes already discussed on the site about winterizing, but to answer your questions-

Adding antifreeze is really easy and took my 10 year old and I about 20 minutes from start to finish to do this year. There are 2 basic methods. You can either drain the block and pour it in per owners manual in the reference section of the site. Or you can use the bucket method where you put the intake hose into a bucket full of anitfreeze and suck it up till it is coming out the exhaust. I use the bucket method because I cannot get the drain plugs out of my manifolds.

You cannot run the engine dry unless you remove the belt from the raw water pump because you will ruin the impeller.

When sucking up the antifreeze just do it at idle. If it does not draw up the anifreeze you have a bad impeller.

How much time you have depends on when it starts freezing in your area.
