Jim - Thanks for the heads up on the location of the 5th.
Chris - appreciate the fogging tips. No heater, no shower, yes to the ballast question. I was going to drain the ballast lines and blow out using shop vac in reverse with all the ballast drain & sea cock open. I hope to get this knocked out this Sunday and will check on the tranny cooler drain. If I cannot find a drain on the tranny cooler, I will carefully pull a hose as described in many of the winterization threads. Again, I really appreciate the CCF experts who willingly share their knowledge. There is a lot of info out there and confirmation of parts/location/etc with the pics posted by many really helps someone like me who is new to the I/Os. |

Don't fog an EFI, remove spark plugs and spray each cylinder then rotate the engine a few full rotations by hand.
There may be a drain at the trans cooler as well? If you have a heater, shower or ballast be sure and drain those as well. |

Glen, the fifth drain is on the bottom of the elbow below the water pump impeller. Should be starboard side of engine underneath the pulley for the impeller (on the front of the motor).

Just looking for quick confirmation that I have the drain plugs identified for the Winterization. I know there are hundreds of threads on Winterization but have found very few pics even with the advanced search. Most say the GT40 has 2 block drains (1 on each side), 2 manifold drains (1 each side), and some indicate a 5th down in an elbow somewhere below the water pump. Attached my pic.
Am I on track here? Many thanks, really concerned will miss a plug. I am going to fill via AF pour method. What about fogging EFI? Remove the spark arrestor? |
