You got time burning on your hands...come to Florida. My trailer is in need of some TLC and I have neither the time nor skill.

Eric,
Statesville is about 1 hour west of me--up 77 to 40. Mooresville where RCM and Reid is only about 20 minutes south of Statesville . Open Invite to anyone's who traveling through and needs a cheap place to stay or rest up-- The mower is under the carport, the vacuum for the pool(grandkids pool) is behind the storage building, and 2 boats are outside with the Lake 5 minutes away! Call in advance to make reservations, that way I'll have enough time to get the Wife,Daughter, and grand-daughter a hotel room |

Peter, I have a friend that goes to Savannah all the time as her folks have a condo down there. The riverfront is place to be for all that goes on there. During St. Patty's day they actually dye the Savannah River Green. I'll get the low down from her where to stay and the great places to eat. I need to make a trip there myself someday soon as the one and only time I visited I was 14.
Yes the Cobblestone streets are famous there and are as old as Savannah itself. The stones were used as ballast for the old sailing ships in port and they kept piling up once they were not needed. They decided to use them to "pave" the streets to get rid of the piles of rocks. My friend posted on her FB page that she was laffing her a$$ off watching women in their high heels trying to navigate the streets on New Years Eve. I bet it was pretty comical. |

That's cool, there seems to be a lot more CCs available down south.
As far as dining, I can't remember any particular place, although the barbecue was pretty good. During St. Patty's, you could walk around River Street going from place to place with a beer in your hand. I don't know if that's all the time or not, but it reminded me of New Orleans in some respects. Although, it seemed to be much nicer in general. |

I went to Savanna one year for Saint Patrick's Day. That weekend was totally off the handle, like a mini Mardi Gras.
That said, Savanna, I think they call it the historic district, is really beautiful. I'd imagine on a normal weekend it would be pretty serene. They have a really cool system of little park squares with one really big one in the middle. We also toured this really awesome above ground cemetery. Some of it is on the water two, and they had cobblestone river walk type of a thing. I keep meaning to go back. |
