Great looking boat. I also have a 16' Mustang with a 351. Mine porpoises in any sort of chop at anything above 35mph. It will touch 50mph at full blast. Porpoising is worse if I have people in the back seat.
The new Acme prop helped to reduce the porpoising. I can drive through some of it. Interesting to hear that you have the same issue. |

I know its been a WHILE but I'm going to update some pics of the Mustang. She got a new windshield last year and some paint touchups and looks incredible.
Lots of life changes, I've moved down to Miami and work at Miami Nautique International, but the Mustang stays in New York. I even bought her a barn, then restored the barn, so she has a home in the winter while I'm in Miami. My brother in law takes care of her and uses her in the summer with my family, then I get to go up and see her when I visit. We sold off the old crappy family boat and she's become the permanent family lake boat. :D I miss driving her a lot but its nice to get pics of my mom, dad, sister, husband etc enjoying it, it was truly worth restoring. I learned a lot from it and I believe it had a hand in getting my job down here. A bigger part of my life than I thought it would be. I'll update with some pics when I get photobucket figured out. |

Sorry guys been super busy, up to my neck in broken boats. Until my next day off this is the best video I can do on my commute back. Turn up the volume. you can hear it porpoise up until about 13 seconds until I reach down to lower the tabs then the noise stops until about 24 seconds when I raise them back up. I was doing about 40mph.

Just finished testing the trim tabs, writing this from my hospital bed...
Just kidding This upgrade couldn't of been more of a success, I went on the first run with my boss, got it up to about 42mph when it started porpoiseing, lowered the tabs a little and boom gone! We both looked at each other like F#ck yeah, fixed! Trimmed it out a little more and brought it up to 53mph. It felt more stable than it ever had. Only 2 cons I can think of, there's a huge jet boat like ploom that pops up when you start trimming and I'm not a big fan of how they look. Might paint the actuators white. I'll take a video today |

Hmm after staring at quite a few pics I don't think it's from a Correct Craft at all, measures out to almost identical measurements as a 80's cc rudder but this rudder comes to a point, interesting I guess?

Hm, interesting. As far as driveability at high speed it steers quite nicely, but the thought of rudder stall is always at the back of my mind.
I'll run my rudder by my prop guy, but the thought of fixing the crack doesn't really make my socks go up and down. I could make a rudder plate pretty easily, so I might just do that for kicks. I have a buddy that has a rudder from a '85 tique I was going to check out. I was also thinking about the rudder that century put on the small v drive Arabians and Marks, those are about 17ft boats capable of 50Mph+, seems like it would be pretty close in specs to what I'm looking for |
