The main thing you are looking for on a water pump is a brass impeller. Most automotive impellers are coated steel and they will rust/corrode much faster. Now if you have a closed cooling system on your boat and run antifreeze through it then it's not going to make much difference other than the direction that it rotates and I would recommend using a directional pump instead of a by-directional pump. Most automotive WP will rotate in the opposite direction that you need. You should have a reverse rotation engine. CCW as viewing from the front to rear or you can look at the prop, a right hand is CCW a left hand is CW.

There is a link for Skidim on this site!
Marine grade....well how long do you want it to last? Rule of thumb for me....it's a boat , use what is intended to be there! Marine parts ! Example...Can you use an auto carb?...Yes it will run. Is it safe ? No Stick with the marine parts...you will have less problems...and less risk for failures...and can run safely! |

the alternator doen't make a difference it just has to be a marine grade piece, the water pump is different, you can get a By-directional pump or a directional pump. I would suggest getting a directional pump for the rotation you have. I think SKIDIM had the best price when I got mine a couple of yrs ago.

Can you buy a regular alternator as far as rotation CW or CCW? The water pump has to be CW or CCW specific too? Thanks for the help guys.
