Don't know...
I've been from Knoxville to the Tenn-Tom waterway by boat and it's all beautiful. One day I'll make the trip all the way to the gulf.

I love being a river rat...

79; Just found this again, so I'll reply like I did on the other post. Lotsa lakes you'll love in TN. We have a place on Norris, in eastern TN. Been skiing there for 30+ years. AWESOME. If you relocate, you gotta come east to see us. Would love to meet ya in person.

Ok, I know exactly where you're talking about. I got Happy Hollow confused with Gargis Hollow. That's where I was talking about. My friends dad lives close to where you're talking about. In between the Happy Hollow bridge and the old bridge piles. His last name is Young. We're usually down shoals creek through out the year. Great place to ski... if you catch it on a weekday when it's not too crowded...

tjackle,

I love old Nautiques and am always looking for them. My '79 is my 5th correct craft. I also have a '90 Ski Nautique that is for sale. I've seen your boat and it is in very good condition. Mine is on the left side of Shoal Creek about a 1/4 mile before you get to Happy Hollow bridge. Look forward to meeting you.

How'd you know that was me????

Yeah, That's my boat. Happy Hollow used to be my old stompin' grounds. I lived across the river in 4 mile creek slew (with the same boat might I add) We used to swing on the rope swing on the west bank of Happy Hollow. They've since took down the swing... and cut down the tree. What a bummer. As soon as I get my distributor fixed, we'll be by. Thanks Kevin.

tjackle,

Does the boat hang on a lift on the south side of Wilson Lake just west of Shoal Creek down from the Robbins place? I have a 79 ski Nautique with dark blue stripes. It stays on a lift at happy hollow. Feel free to stop by sometime.

79; Been going to "Norris" lake in eastern TN for 28 years. Used to be if you saw a ski boat on the lake, you knew the owner. Little busier now on the weekends but still just ours during the week. Glass water, cyrstal clear 24/7. Spent 6 weeks there at our parl model trailer this summer. Gotta love retirement!

Another spot my friends have gone and we have talked about going to is Norse Lake on the East side of TN they have floating house's where you just cruise your boat up and tie off for the night. But diffently get a house boat at Dale Hollow, the big boats get a little salty but if you have a couple of friends go in on it together it's not bad and if you can go in late Agaust they drop the price as well. The smaller boats are more affordable but they are usually older and not as nice.

You will diffently love the skiing the water is litterly like glass 24/7

79; Sweet boat. Had the engine in my '78 dolled up with chrome also. Always stopped traffic on the dock when I lifted the cover to dry it.
BKH; Thanks. Now I don't feel quite so dumb. Liked how you put the link to 79's boat in your post. Now that mine works the way I want it I aint ever changin' it

No I really didn't know that but there is a little problem. When you sign up here it will only remember the signature and IP address to the computer you used when you first signed up, so if you use different computers it won't apply your signature and if you noticed it list me as a newbie with no stars even though I've been here almost since day one.

79,

You probably already know this. However . . .

If you go to your profile, and copy the following into the "signature" box, you'll have an HTML link to your boat in the diaries.

Well thank YOU,

there are still things to work on like a new rub rail, more chrome, MSD control box and NOS to keep up with SS-201's beast.

Oh and there is no speed limit at night on Dale Hollow so you can extend the day of skiing past dusk or sunset within reason because it does get really dark at night since it's in a bunch of valley's.

Get a cabin at Sulfer Creek or Cedar Hill their's have a nice view of the lake but Sulfer Creeks cabin's are nicer and if you camp they have some sites right on the water as well. But if you really want the best way to go I would suggest getting a house boat and choosng the cove of your choice. The water is just unreal any time of the day especially during the week. The week-ends have a little more traffic but it really isn't a problem since it so big and you still have tons of glass to ski on. You'll have to cruise over to Willow Grove and past the Marina they have a course sit-up usually. There is one area that is a little rough and that is the wides part of the lake by Goat and Pine Islands also be carefull around pine Island on the nothside is a submerged city, well it's foundations at least and it's shallow in that area as well. Thats really the only spot on the lake with the exceptions if you go up one of the rivers. We used to houseboat annually when I was a kid and it just awsome, my mom still keeps her boat there. I highly recommend it to anyone especially if you have kids and you are on a houseboat it's like you have the whole lake to yourself.

I'm sorry if I upset you, it's just if you start putting automotive parts on it. Then you can ruin a great boat that obviuosly has a strong sentimental value and sounds like it's in excellent condition. There are several people that have came on to this site and trashed there boats by taking short cuts and being cheap not emplying that you are one of them.

Now there are a couple of things I don't neccessarily agree with on your assement and I would like to help if I can and if you are willing. The crank, cam and everything else rotates backwards from a conventional automotive engine, so due to this, there are specical seals, and machining process that need to be performed to maintain it's excellent condition but you really don't have to worry about those unless you are re-building or added performance upgrades to it. I think you are a little mis-informed on some topics at this time and that is your reference to the gear driven cam and it's effect on the distributor. It makes no difference whether the cam is driven by a direct drive or so called gears or a chain. The distributor is always driven by the cam and not the timing chain. There are two type of drive system to syncronize the cam and crank rotation. One is a timing chain that is attached to two gears, one is mounted to the crank and the other to the cam and has a specific ratio between them to maintain the correct timinng and valve sequince. There is another system the replaces the timing chain with idler gears and is for high perfromance applications which is not typically used on any OEM engines but is an aftermarket piece and usually produces a lot of noise or engine whine and I doubt that you have one maybe you do but it makes no difference in regards to which dist you need.

I would suggest that you contact this website if you already haven't

http://www.performancedistributors.com/marinedui.htm

If you really want a marine HEI unit for your FORD motor. Or if you would like something that is closer to stock looking then I would suggest a Mallory 512-CV model. You can choose between a YL, YLU, or YLM depending upon the type of pick-up you preffer. I would suggest a YLU-512-CV the CV is for reverse rotation and for a standard rotation it would be DV. I have a YLU model on mine and I'm very pleased with it's performance. You can pick these up at summit racing and they are cheaper than the HEI units. If you do choose the HEI unit make sure that you ask for the correct gear because you will need the reverse rotation gear instead of the standard gear they come with. Now if you would like to use the new distributor you have I would say again all you need to do is change gears on the end of the distributor with the gear off of the old one and you will be on your way. Good luck and post your boat in the diaries section Mine is already there if you would like to look, My engine is pretty clean and is highly modified and everyone that I have let drive that owns a SN is just amazed at the throtle responce I have.

Again I hope you get the correct parts you need and If I can help please ask. Mine was a basket case when I bought it, but as you can tell from the diaries it's completely restored to better than new condition.
