orange starter, water pump and alternator. All the parts that have to be replaced when you swap rotation. My guess is they all came off a volvo. I did replace the distributor and it runs much smoother. Looks cleaner too. I am thinking of putting a quadra jet on it to see what it does. I dont mind testing the afb on this engine but it cannot stay on this one. I am attached to it.
I can live with the orange, the chrome does improve things I think. |

So you are going to replace the dist. That's in this pictiure? You realy don't want a vaccum advance model, and when you increase the RPM the timing retards? 10-0 doesn't make much since the timing should advance due to the mechanical advance.
Nice red alternator thou, haven't seen one of those, if it works, who cares it's covered 99% of the time but clashes with the new chrome valve covers. |

I cannot tell a lie the valve covers didnt do anything but make it look better. You are also correct on the rudder. 340 dollars plus tax and shipping and a new correct craft 11a style rudder will be on my door Monday.
I just threw a AFB onto this tique and it seems to run fine. I was able to set the timing to 10 at 650 RPM with the afb. The spare holly has not been finished being rebuilt. (more like assembled with new parts, it came in a bucket) so I cannot put that on and see if everything is running better. I just picked up a cap for the spare distributor (actual marine without vacuum advance untested by me) at 600-700 rpm set at 10 BTC and a increase the throttle to 2000 rpm timing goes to 0. I do not have the vacuum advance connected to the AFB since it doesnt have a port. I am using a analyzer for RPM. I went ahead and put the other distributer on and it runs alot smoother. I have yanked the controls for the other one out. |

There's no way that the valve covers can fix a vaccum leak. Saw the rudder on the other post and it maybe more of a head acke getting the hardware to match up then trying to find the correct parts to match what you lost.

I get the valve covers and the rudder today. If the valve covers fix the vacuum leak and I can set timing then I will take it out this weekend. If the engine and transmission work out then it will be time for the lipstick! I am ready to get it done. Leaving work now!
