Windshield for a 65

all the "swivels' are holding my glass in, are extruded aluminumn "U" shaped channels, cut about 1/2" long. They have a hole drilled in the bottom of them for the locating pin (bottom bracket) and the thumb screw (top bracket). The glass goes in the channel.

btw, the 283 Im building for my higgins is a reverse rotation motor...I also had to mount the pistons on the rods "backwards" , as they have offset pins...what motor you building from?

have the brackets,what i need are the two swivels that attach the plexi glass to the frame. kinda looks like a hexagon on the outside with a slot for the glass, and a blind hole on the inside to attach to said bracket bosses or pin so they will rotate in and out. when i broke the glass all three parts fell in the lake. glass and upper and lower swivels can anyone help ????????????   boat dr

The windshield fit well. The only problem is that it is just a tad shorter than the original. Not much you can do after the neighbor kid melts your windshield while burning leaves. Caught the cover on fire, etc. Luckily not much else burned. Still had $1,800 damage. Still looking for a new steering wheel. Know where I can find one?

I would take you up on the pattern for the wings. I was just starting to work on that. The boat didn't have them when I bought it in 1998.

The boat has been in our county for its entire life (since 1965). Did some major engine restoration two years ago. Need to quiet a sticky rocker. Other than that, it is a screamer. I have the V-8 Interceptor, 289.

We have the Mid-West Correct Craft factory here in our county so it is great to have them for technical support. Super people. I had to have a seal replaced in my tranny and it only cost $80 -- including labor. They are so knowledgable that it doesn't take them long to fix things.

There are a few sixes out here and, sorry to say, they just don't sound right. Gots to have a V-8 so it sounds like a Harley on water! There are about a half-dozen, maybe more, mid-1960s Correct Crafts on our chain of lakes, which is the Lake James chain in northeast Indiana. In the chain, we have approximately 2,200 acres of water. Spring-fed. Nice stuff.

I am hoping to get a wooden boat some day. I have had quite a few slip through my fingers, but I keep trying. I am one of those tight wads who always has to find the deal. I am still looking on the wooden boat front. One of these days ... No kids. No grandkids. Still, I am a tight wad.

scoop, would like to order from taylor,have 1964 american skier,i think the windsheild is the same. could you email me the part no. you used to order yours,would save a lot of time. i also need one set of the hinges upper and lower for my wings, does any one have a set or know how to get them, short of making a set?           boat dr

I have the windshield ordered from Taylor Made. It should arrive in a couple of weeks. What I am looking for now is a pattern for those vent pieces that were on the downward slope of the sides of the windshield. If you look closely at the 1965 American Skier (red and white in Ohio) that is listed for sale on this site you will see what I mean.

Thanks for the help. Just ordered my windshield yesterday. It will cost a whopping $261!!!!! I couldn't believe it was so reasonable after reading information about custom windshields for $700 and $800.

After sending an e-mail to Taylor, they sent me a jpg file with all of the specs on the windshields. Very helpful.

By the way, the folks at Taylor Made told me that they will probably stop making these windshields in a year or so because they are running out of the necessary aluminum stock and that it would be too costly to make such an extrusion in the future.

One more question: Does anybody have a pattern for those vent-like things that attach to the back sides of a '65?
