I suggest getting a fresh and reliable rev rot electronic, mech advance, marine distributer, and if you then want a hotter spark the next season wire it to an an MSD 6Am and you'll had a 2" arc to play with and then you'll feel the difference.

Ok, now that I've seen the error in my ways... I've sent back the automotive distributor that I purchased off ebay (79 Nautique should rest easy knowing that). But my old distributor shaft bushings are borderline right now. I can function the rest of this year and maybe some of next but I need to either replace my distributor bushings ( ) or my whole distributor. I thought I wanted and HEI unit. Is it really going to make that much of a difference? Right now I don't have as "HOT" of a spark as I think I should have. I've been looking at Performancedistributors.com per 79's suggestion and they have one that they say will fit my 302. Am I going to tell a big difference? I'm just looking for input to see what I really want to do. Oh, and 79 Nautique... I'd really appriciate any input you have too. Now that we've been formally introduced...
