Allen, thats a really tough question to answer! Youre going to have to do the math. Too many variables- you'll need to know exactly how much volume you plan to fill, pick a foam density, and crunch the numbers. Definitely get a little more than you need, there will be some waste.

It sounds like the foam at US Composites is much cheaper!!!! Tim if you are still keeping up with this thread. How much foam would you think I need to re-foam the bow in my 77SN? I have been looking and think I will go with 2 or 3lb, just need to know the amount? I never was great at geometry so I figure I'd ask just in case someone knew.

By the way I found the reason for this headache. The lower screws for the swim platform bracket were screwed directly through the hulle and no provision was made to arrest the leakage. SO over the years the water leaked directly into the foam on both sides and it was absorbed untill it completely soaked the foam, from stern to bow. I can wait to get this much lighter skier onto the lake !

Well I checked the floor beside the engine and behold I found soaked foam as well. At this point I have taken the entire floor off and the secondary stringers need to be replaced, thankfully the main stringers are good. Off to west marine this afternoon to get the resin, they have the best price now since it is on sale !

Hey Paul, good to see you at the store the other day. We carry this if you want to pick some up locally. Obviously UScomposites is considerably less expensive... Didn't have as much time to talk as I wanted the other day - how did you make out as you continued to dig into the floor? Did things get any drier further aft? Pete's right, there's a good chance the stringers need work!

Paul,
Since you found lots of water in the foam, have you looked at other spots besides the bow? Have you checked for rot in stringers? |

Any ideas on what to use to re-foam the previously water logged bow foam of my 1974 skier 16. I bought the boat and am refurbising it, I took it for a engine test and it ran nose heavy after drilling into the floor i found all the foam in the bow water logged. Its all gone now but what can i use to replace it. Thanks ... Paul
