John,
When you get a chance, go to the manual section of the reference section. Print the engine manual for your boat. We certainly don't mind helping but looking at pictures is always a help plus, it may take us some time to get back to you.

I do live in NC. I live in Pinehurst. If you are in Winston, I am about 1.5 hours SE of you, 25 minutes south of Asheboro. I definitely appreciate the offer of help. I will post once I take it out on the water tomorrow and see how it performs. Thanks!!

John, were are you in NC? I could try to give you a hand if needed. There are also more members in the state.

John,
It's inside the RWP (raw water pump) on the front of the engine. The pump is an add on to the typical automotive engine so it's pretty easy to spot. It's on the starboard side and has it's own belt drive to it. Another way to find it to follow the suction hose past. it's the next item downstream of the trans oil cooler.

Have you tried tightening everything up yet?

It is really easy to miss getting the key into the key-way. They like to fall out. Therefore the shaft is not able to catch and rotate the impeller. Put a dab of Vaseline into the key slot, that will hold it in place.

Did you tighten up your water filter bowl all the way (if you have one)? Make sure you've got the gasket installed as well. Show us pics of your complete cooling from hull pickup to circulation pump to manifolds if you can.

Some do some don't, but first use a nut driver(not a screw driver) and tighten all the hose clamps. The slightest amount of air suction can be a culprit.

Not really but, if it's ever been run dry, it will trash an impeller real quick.

I agree that it sure sounds like you are sucking air someplace on the suction side of the RWP.

Welcome to CCfan. How about some pictures! Also, when you get a chance, make a diary entry.

Did you forget to tighten belts back up, check all hose clamps and screw tightly with nut driver? Sounds like water isnt getting through all the way, maybe an air leak somewhere. I would double check all your connections and tighten belts and see what happens. I'm sure more will be along with some more suggestions

Good Evening

I started up my 1986 Ski Nautique 2001 and it is running hot. I undid all the items that I did for the winterization, I changed the oil. I am thinking I missed something. Can someone please help me. I ran the boat on the lake today and normally it used to run in the 160f range. Today it was running in the 220f range. Lots of smell, exhaust manifolds very hot. I am thinking I missed something. Hopefully someone will be able to point me in a direction.

My last run of the season before winterization, no problems. The boat ran as it has always ran for me over the last few years.

Thanks!
