Gary answered but I'd like to add that you need to keep in mind that the rubber impeller pump is bidirectional for standard or reverse rotation engines. A new impeller must then have neutral blades since they are made for both. |

They are straight when new and take a "set" when used.I personally always install the impeller so they always turn in the same rotation. They last a long time if you don't run them dry,but eventually start cracking down where they attach near the hub.

Got it done! the one in it looked great so I placed the gasket back in it's slot and got it all back together! Still curious about the spare I have - are the teeth supposed to be bent or neutral?

Got it, and i also found a detailed diagram of loosening the belt. Last question the new impeller (sherwood) seems neutral meaning the fins are straight up. Does this mean it will form to the direction of water flow?

Antifreeze/water in the pump is no problem, your going to have to loosen belts, remove the RWP from the bracket, and then disassemble to get the impeller changed. The most important thing that you need to do is to make sure you mark the RWP so when you bolt it back on, it is in the right direction, or it wont suck water. Also make sure the o-ring/gasket is seated properly when putting back together. Pretty easy to do though. Good luck

Below is a pic of my RWP. I am getting ready to change the impeller. It's in a 95 sN, with a GT 40 pcm. There are 2 larger bolts that hold a sliding bracket and this thick iron bracket blocks the 4 smaller bolts that hold the RWP on. Also it still has RV AF fluid in block and I don't know if it is in the RWP also, does this matter? I plan to have the bot on the lake in the next 2 weeks. Thanks!
