Hello, I am interested in the ski pylon, sounds like it fits a 75 correct craft. Is the diameter of the pin on the bottom 1"? If are interested in selling it. If so, I would be very interested. Let me know, Kind regards, Scott 612-910-2040

Paul,
At least Fred is being hopeful that he can find the parts. He posted 8 times yesterday looking and 6 of the threads were over a year old! From what he's looking for, it seems he's working on hulls that have been parted out or close to it??

Fred,
I think I have asked before but how about some pictures of the projects? It would help us understand your needs.

Do you need the bent one or would a straight one of the same vintage be ok?

Yup, Being into old woodworking equipment, I'm over there frequently too!

Some go way beyond where I am - overhead line shafts driving the belt driven equipment. Then, some even have steam engines or water wheels driving the line shafts!!

John,
There's no need to settle whatever and surly not in this thread. The ACBS has already done it! I was simply stating some facts and by no means meant to start an argument.

Have you been over on www.owwm.com? The "unobtainium" comes up I'd say daily!

Many times restorations do require some parts to be reproduced and replaced with an equal. I doubt there is one restoration out there that this hasn't happened. Some examples would be engine parts during a rebuild. Internal parts on gauges and even their faces requiring new parts. The best example would be wood replacement on a wood hull. (and, you don't used the old screws again!! )

The ACBS has a fairly strict policy with any restoration. I don't have the exact wording in front of me but basically it states if an original part is no longer available, it can be reproduced but must be as close as possible to the original. In the case of my ring and finger, I had an old photo showing the original CC ring and finger. I was able to enlarge it and then scale from a known dimension to get the proper dimensions for the reproduced ring and finger.

BTW, the ASBS has modified their rules slightly. All the classes of boats are the same but now each class can be judged under "preserved" or "restored" rules.

Pete, I understand, hence the name of my Mustang, "Theseus Paradox". That has been debated by philosophers Heraclitus, Socrates, and Plato, among others with no real consensus. I doubt we will settle that argument on this thread.
BTW, does Green Lake still exist for the reunion? After all, all of the water has been replaced with different water.

I agree, its very cool to ski behind the vintage boats!

I believe the original is made from 100% pure unobtanium. I was lucky the 69 SS came with the right one or I would be the one with the beggars cup out. I was afraid to try to remove the ring from the correct one I have to have it rechromed. It needs it but it would be a sad day if I damaged it.

I imagine Pete that the ring and fingers were cast bronze? Looks like there might be alot of hand finishing on the early ones so they progressed to the one like John's above with the removable finger. From there they eventually got rid of them all together I'll bet due to cost

LOL, of course the pylon is easy to make, if need be, Pete! Like you said, its the ring and finger you wont find! I cant say Ive ever seen a pre-73 CC ring and finger for sale... except when attached to a pylon. And very rarely at at that.

But, very easy to make if you have a lathe or have access to one. Then, all you need is the ring and finger!
