VR1 is supposedly being phased out at the only place around here that carried it (Advance Auto), so if you can find it buy it bulk. By far best bang for the buck I've found. Joe Gibbs racing just came out with a zddp oil that is getting good reviews as well, but its pricey. If you just want the additive I would check out these guys as many of my classic corvette buddies use this stuff and swear by it:

Ive heard mixed reviews on additives. I'd skip them, personally. Just use a good oil and you should be fine.

VR1 20w50 and Mobil1 15w50 are the 2 I use. The latter can be found at Walmart in the 5qt jugs.

Steve - There are additives advertised on the web, STP used to be one of them rich in ZDDP - what oil are you going to add it to? Is this for a new build startup? Otherwise, why not just buy VR1?
