This is best answered by the engine rebuilder. If you are having new pistons and/or rings installed and the cylinders honed then more than likely the answer is YES.

I have a Chevy 454 in a 1980 Barefoot and am having to have it completely rebuild over the winter. Every thing that can be done is being done so in effect I will be getting back as close to a new engine as you can with a reconditioned one.
So my question is will I need to run in the engine like you would if it was new? |
