Run the bilge blower

This is one reason I "unplug" after use, this make me have to open the dog box to "plug" before I launch. I also run the blower from the driveway until I get out onto the main part of the lake. (well into the 5 min mark from driveway to turn of the key)

I wouldn't be surprised if this Chris developed a hole in the tank. The boat wasn't in the greatest shape. I know the present owner and he called me on the Memorial day weekend. He wasn't too sure but felt the log had ripped off the inner keel and wanted me to fix it. That repair could be quite extensive depending on how much rot is found. I suggested someone else since I sure wouldn't a repair to come back on my reputation.

BTW, the Chris was originally owned by the late John Lamon Sr. of Watercraft Sales. It was one of those family heirlooms that had been passed through from a previous generation. Back when I was at Watercraft in the late 60's, John brought it in one day for me to varnish the transom. I finished the job, put it in the water but our mechanic parked a Donzi sweet 16 behind it. He neglected to tie it up secure so the bow of the boat proceeded to trash my fresh transom job. John was heart broken to say the least.

The blowers where never installed in older boats. My 54 nor my 64 are equipped. We have always learned to lift and smell! By the way, I'm not aware of a 6 volt blower anyway. Bilge pumps yes but not a blower.

A good reminder to us all to run that blower and lift the hatch, every time.
