Get the volt Ohm meter out and check both the resistance of the sender wire between the sender and the gauge (it should be near zero) as well as the resistance between the sender terminal and the block (it should be close to 240 Ohms when cold)

Does the gauge budge in any direction at all, or is it just totally frozen?
If it doesn't move when turning the key on and off, or running the engine, it could be just the gauge. Try grounding the sender wire on the engine side directly to the engine, and see if it moves at all. On a fuel injected engine, there are is a temp gauge sender and at least one temp switch, for the fuel injection ECU. If someone has messed with or mixed up the wiring, it could cause issues. This thread could potentially help a little: http://www.correctcraftfan.com/forum/forum_posts.asp?TID=27639&title=2001-gt40-repower-check-engine-light |
