careful application of 3m vhb double sided foam tape would do it. Be sure to apply a solvent to both parts before hand. I would tape it to the back of the emblem first... trim it to ensure complete coverage, then peel and stick to the clean hull.

Remember it is pressure sensative adhesive.. so once it is where you want it, apply pressure. It also cures after application so dont go boating for a day or two.

Are the holes you filled the only ones that were there? A '78 would have most likely had the white and black emblems originally, which do not have the same mounting holes as the black/chrome.

They were all riveted on, originally. Ive screwed several sets on. I cant think of any method of attaching them that would keep them in place and be less intrusive.

When I refinished the hull sides the plastic/chrome-paint "CorrectCraft" emblem piece, which was already pretty banged up, came apart in pieces, some of which were pop riveted to the hull. I removed it completely, filled in the holes and it was sanded and gel-coated over. I now have a new emblem to put on, but would rather not drill holes in the hull. Any tips for how to secure it? It has a smooth plastic back.
