Actually, the first thing I thought of was the Protec. From the picture though, it looks like someone has already done the conversion (or this motor never had it). You can see the spark plug wires going up to the dizzy.
As far as ethanol, I've had good luck using Startron as an additive when running during the season. I know others like Marine Stabil to run all the time and Valvtech is another option as well. |

Yay, another Washington guy comes to the site!
Can I assume that you have the engine manual? If so here are a few thoughts for you. I'm a fellow 1993 owner/learner. Your engine likely has the Pro-Tech ignition system. It seems to be the prevailing opinion that it will die at some point. Mine still works fine. You need to upgrade to a different ignition system when/if yours dies. The engine needs to be maintained properly. Oil changes every 50 hours with a good oil and filter. Only use mid-grade 89 octane or higher fuel that does NOT have ethanol in it (good luck finding that - search the internet for stations in your area with non-ethanol fuel). What other types of information are you looking for? Kevin |

After reading some threads in the FAQ section as i prepare to end my first season as a boat owner, i am excited and nervous about becoming a DIY boat owner. I want to learn though and feel i am capable, but I am little short on engine knowledge. I will inevitabely be here with numerous questions, but I was hoping to get a 101 on my motor. Maybe a video tour of what is what.
My 93 Ski Nautique has a Ford PCM 351W This October I hope to complete the entire checklist for winterization i found through the FAQ section of the forum. of course i sure the help i get here will make me feel like i am not really doing it alone. I attached a picture of my motor for those of you who love photos. |
