That's how we roll in South West Virginny when you are from Shikahgo by way of Orygen.

I'm surprised Pete gave you crap for TACK when you misspelled GAUGES when starting this post....... LOL! Our priorities are what makes us unique. (Guess that's why we like those crazy/unique Excel Hulls!)

Thanks! Yes I did sell the BFN. Didn't have the space for two boats at the time, and I came across the EXCEL with 38 hours on it so had to make a tough choice! I literally had just finished putting in the new interior and decided to get the EXCEL. I spent countless hours wet sanding and making it look like new. Listed it on craiglist on a Thursday and it was gone the next day. Air 206 said it was better that way- quick and over with. I told the new owner I had Right of First Refusal. I hope to have it back one day- I LOVE that color combo.

So a couple of years ago- this was my very first post on Correct Craft Fan. I had just made arrangements to buy my 1991 BFN, so I wanted to start to gather parts in advance to make the restoration easier and most importantly I wanted to keep my boat all original. Figured I would ask for help.

I had several kindly reach out, but I had my chops busted because I spelled a word wrong, and that really irked me. Thus it became a mission of mine to find a set of NOS VDO white face gauges for my boat.

Well I came across my "gauge collection" today and wanted to share. I did find a set of NOS whiteface VDO's. I actually found about 7 sets in total. I called every VDO dealer in the country, as well as every closed down correct craft dealer I could find. I ended up with several sets from 1985-1989 as well. I had so many VDO gauges I could believe it!   I became friends with several memebers who were so kind to help me along in the restoration process I tried to hook them up..... AIR206 bought a set or more- Marty Mabe got several NOS gauges and Mike Junge bought a set. I have 3 sets left (NOT FOR SALE haha)- that I plan to use those if I get other boats in the future. I listed a photo of the boat that started it all (restored), as well as a couple of pictures of the VDO treasure.

Zach,
Well, I did not get the corner office but at least I got an office and not one of the cubes!! There are 16 private offices and 16 cubes. All the privates are furnished with barely used high end furniture that came from a bank that closed. They even have wardrobe cabinets, wall and plenty of filing drawers. The daughter of the the owner is handling the office details. Wow, she should have been an interior designer since it looks more like a home than an office!! I'm "pumped"!     Work surroundings do have a influence on employee performance and "well being".

Come on Joe, I was simply trying to add some humor to the thread! Notice the emocticons I plugged into the response!

No, I really do not have the time and energy with my new job. I've been very busy setting up the new 500 ton chillers, roof platforms, pump skid and the supply loops through the plant. They haven't even set me up with internet/computer access yet and I really miss that. It's amazing how we have become so dependent on the internet!! However, I still have all my catalogs and a phone!! Internet access and a computer will come when we formally move into the new location and I actually have my own office.

Found all of them from what I can tell- so your dash photo would help confirm if what I have is correct. I had a 1988 Barefoot- then a 2002 ski nautique, but this has always been my dream boat. wanted one when I graduated high school- and found a real nice one. Just a few minor tweeks. Some decals removed, glovebox lid missing and the flame arrestor but that is about it. A super nice two owner boat. last guy owned it 19 years-stored indoors. So I am excited! My first barefoot turned out to be a whole in the water thanks Rod.

Rod:
Did you recently buy the Purple Boat with the tower? Saw one down your way.... I can send you dash pics but not all gauges of my gauges are original. This boat is new to me and I am working on fixing gauge issues.....

PM me with your email address and we chat about the Teleflex gauges you have for sale....

I've got a couple of the Faria replacements from Nautiqueparts, Temp and Fuel. I have to say, they are a pretty close match. Basically the white is whiter than the older ones. The font is slightly different I guess. If you're replacing most of them anyway, it seems like it wouldn't be much of an issue, because you'd have uniformity if you went with all Faria.

What's the "tack"? It sounds like something you would put on a horse and not in a boat!!
"Tack is a piece of equipment or accessory equipped on horses in the course of their use as domesticated animals. Saddles, stirrups, bridles, halters, reins, bits, harnesses, martingales, and breastplates are all forms of horse tack"

Tachometer: "A tachometer (revolution-counter, Tach, rev-counter, RPM gauge) is an instrument measuring the rotation speed of a shaft or disk, as in a motor or other machine.[1] The device usually displays the revolutions per minute (RPM) on a calibrated analogue dial, but digital displays are increasingly common. The word comes from Greek Ταχος, tachos, "speed", and metron, "to measure"."

Those white faced vdo's are gonne be tough. Ive pieced together a set, but it took me a few years to do it. I will have to swap some bezels, faces and guts around to get the full set looking and working right. My guess is that you'll have an even harder time finding NOS stuff since those white faced versions have been out of production for 10+ years. If youre willing to be patient, then start poking around the web and making some phone calls... and watch ebay like a hawk!

Pete will be glad to hear that!

Keep an eye on EBay - NOS come up occaisionally..... May take a few weeks to over a year for those gauges if they come up.(I haven't seen for a while but I wasn't beating the bushes for them).

Mr. Perfectionist - You will have issues with the Speedos (on other posts) then...be advised the early white-faced Airguides say "Correct Craft".... the later ones say "Nautique". I do not know of any "Correct Craft" White-faced NOS available.... WLM has the Nautique Style available.......

I have the same tendency....but making those gauges original with NOS - gonna take some work.
