I have been told that on average the Top Ends will last 1500 and the bottom end around 3000 hours. However, the compression check is the thing to check.

PCM reccomended 2200 I believe on the carbed Fords. Many have gone far longer just depends on the usage type and care.

My guess is that its not the original engine. My guess is also that if you turn the key on you can sit back and watch the hour meter run without the engine actually being started.
So disregard the hour meter and do a practical evaluation of the propulsion system from the pulleys to the prop.
SW boat the risers and exhaust manifolds are your biggest concern. A compression or leak down test is crucial.
Very important you know how old the manifolds and riser are.

The hour meter currently reads 1468.2. Is that alot for a well maintained 351W? She runs awesome! My boat is a '76 CC 210 Cuddy. How many hours can I expect to put on it before having rebuild/replace the engine? And yes, it is a saltwater boat.
Thanks
