Not really looking, I've got enough projects to wade through right now. I'm going to have to get a few samples and put them on to see how it works and what looks best.   My idea is to replace all the gray and white lettering with a darker gray and black, so everything that was originally there will just change colors. I've seen the silver reflective stripe, but would like to look at some darker ones before I make the final descision. These cosmetic things are good projects for me on holiday weekends when the lake is too busy but I have some extra time.

Scott,

What lake are you on up there?? Have a good bud on Glen, love that area!!

Don,

Changed the 206 factory tape from black to the silver metal flake, tracked down exactly what the factory used, is that what you are looking for??

White and black double pin from White Lake

Tim,

That is exactly what I need, but in light grey. I may have to settle for the black, but I'm not sure how that would look, as all my other graphics are grey/white. I may contact White Lake after the holidays to see if they know who the manufacturer is. We will have snow and ice until April, so I have some time to keep searching. Thanks again

Awesome! Though that sounds a little "molested"....LOL!

Only in the bright sunshine and after dark. Seriously though I have a friend with a 2000 SAN that has the big N trimmed with the glitter stripe, you don't really notice it until you're close and the light catches it the it just jumps out. I thought it was a pretty cool effect and I may try it if I ever replace the stripes. Once the gray lettering changed to black I'm looking at things a little different than keep it original because I couldn't. Now I'm more for tastefully done upgrades, like Elanor

It's a little bit of a pain but very doable.
I put on the 1/2" red then used 1/4" 3m fine-line tape as a spacer then did the 1/4" black.
The fine line tape is partially transparent so you can see if you over lapped or not and is easy to handle.

As far as getting it on straight...lay some of that blue painters tape on one edge of the pin-striping as a guide. Piece of cake.

Back in some of the old threads(2008) it sounded like there was a replacement in the exact size. Just wondering if this was available anywhere now. As far as the ghosting, I was hoping to lay the new stripe down right over the goasting from the old one. However, this is probably easier said than done. The boat is in storage, so this will be a spring project. I explore the suggestions here. Thanks.

Scott,
Where have you been looking?
vinyl pinstriping
BTW, there really isn't any "OE" pin striping - CC bought it!

Just an idea, it might be easier to put down a bigger stripe and then lay a white one over the top to get the same look. Seems like that would be easier than trying to like up 2 pieces and trying to keep the gap the same.

You can find the double stripe pinstriping on Ebay (crazy-right!)

the best way to keep it straight and bubble-less is to spray a light mist of water (with a TOUCH of dishsoap in the water) on the surface will help you place the stripe.....apply under slight tension and gently squeegy....once dry, it will be great!

Your local auto supply will have or have a source for the vinyl pin stripping as well.

The only option we have currently is two seperate Tape stripes. 1/4" and 1/2". Let me know if I can help you out with that. They come on 150' rolls.

I don't think anyone has found a replacement in the correct sizes. It would be very hard to match because it very likely to have faded over the years, and there is probably a ghost line underneath. Best thing to do would be to replace all and wetsand the ghosting out before you apply the new stripe. As far a difficulty, I would say slightly challenging, but if you put it on wet you should be able to adjust it slightly get it pretty straight.

Hello All,

There are a couple of old threads about this, but I could use some updated information. I am looking to replace the light grey pinstriping above and below the red accent line on my '89 Nautique. I understand there was light grey and dark grey versions. In the pic you can see how it has pulled off on half of the transom. I could probably just piece this in if I could find the right color and size, but there are other areas of the boat that are starting to pull off so I was thinking of peeling it all off and starting over.
Is there a source to order the OE style pinstriping?
Are there any tricks to keeping it straight for a professional look?
I could probably take it to a local marine trim shop, but this seems like something I should be able to do myself. Any assistance or advise from anyone who has done this would be greatly appreciated. Thank you
