You may have to upgrade the trans. Seems like I recall reading that the 10-17 is rated up to 300 hp but ICBW. You could always run it til it breaks and then you'll know if you have too much motor for the trans.

I have a 351 stroked to 408 in a mustang and it made 650foot pounds at the rear wheels. Gotta ski is correct about the heads The heads to go with are the (AFR) Air Flow Research heads in 185 size. Pricy though at $1350 a set but the are awsome heads or port and polish out the stock cast heads and have a larger intake and exaust valve installed and that will run about $750 for a go job but the advantage to the port is that you keep cast head as most aftermarket heads like the AFR is Alum and they do not take heat well, as the cast is better sutted for heat and stroking it with creat more heat as the bore is larger in a smaller block an the tolerences between the bores gets smaller. The cam and crank are going to be the trick as Gotta ski said. you may contact some marine engine rebuilders as they would be able to guide you on that one. Hope this helps

Trick is getting a rev rotation stroker crank.
(can I say that on the internet?) Unless you also rework the heads the engine will likely go flat above 4000 rpm even sooner than it does now, but will pull hard getting there. |

Im currently looking into rebuilding my whole boat floor interior engine everything. My passion for power and bragging rights is telling me to go high torque at low RPM. In the past Ive learned that more cubic inches more torque so tell me if its a misstake but cant I stroke my 351w and make it a 393 and gain a huge amount of torque the boat is a 77 nauti in sad condition, I just got it to my repair guys and we are currently pulling the motor so I need feedback from the many experienced CC owners on the site thanks guys.
