Yeah they replaced the carb but they don't water test the boats. I doubt they even put it in gear. But then I again I never suspected shift cable issues bc the old carb was so whack. I'm was glad it was a minor adjustment bc it was rather annoying and dangerous.
The dealerships here sure took a tank. When CC changed hands it was the end of an era. I will say Orlando Nautiques have been much better to us than Southeast Marine was but nothing compared to when the original Southeast CC was around. |

Did the dealer actually replace the carb? Didn't they even bother to check and test the cable adjustments? Maybe that's why some dealership changes have been made in your area? |

I had the same issue when I first bought my '76. Loading on trailer was a pain. Replaced the carb at a CC dealer. That corrected the high idle but when the boat went into gear it'd engage too late and too fast. It was then did I realize the gear shift cable on the transmission was out of adjustment also. Adjusted the cable in the middle of the lake and its been as smooth as a Cadillac ever since.

Assuming 351 with carb --
Have you tried to adjust the idle? Most of the time it is a vacuum leak. Try tightening the carb hex nuts. Another trick is to spray carb cleaner at all possible leak paths - the engine will slow down if you find a leak with that. |
