Todd, This is funny. I only have 2 strong willed daughters, one nautique and no trees so I guess I have it easy, eh? I'll try to remember this whenever the girls get to me. |

Todd, Thanks for the encouraging words! It helps since there are times when I wish the parenting would stop especially with a 27 year old without any common sense (or mechanical ability). I'm waiting on one more price figure so I can tell him how much the Tique repair will cost. I wish I could put all my man hours on bills too! Now the next step will be to get the funds out of him!! |

John, I have thought about turning the canopy into the insurance company but am hesitant. When the tree fell on my new shop roof they took care of it and my rate didn't go up. If I turn this one in, I have a feeling the rate will go up. I'm waiting to find out the cost involved. |

Pete,
I enjoy your posts immensely, understand your situation, and offer my condolences for your boat, the tree, your lift and your son. I have 2 lifts, 2 sons (plus 2 strong willed daughters) and 7 Nautiques, and 2000 trees, my nephew doesn't count for my responsibility. And I am always fixing things!! You NEVER stop being a parent and I'm sure he will talk about the lessons you taught him when you are gone. Don't you wonder what the less fortunate in this world would think of us. So here is my encouragement to man up and start fixin' stuff. You do have some really nice stuuf to work on. Todd |

That's correct, 6a6 is the current replacement for the 6a. The body of the strut is 1" longer, the extra length is all aft. I believe at least one person here has cut some length off in order to use their original shaft. Unless rudder clearance is tight, I'd probably opt to leave the strut as is and custom order the new ARE to minimize the prop to strut clearance (aiming for 3/8-1/2").

Well, now it's off to find a 6A strut. I sent a inquiry to Zach at N3. I put the strut in the press yesterday and a crack showed up when I was straightening it. The bend was just too much. It's stamped a 6A. N3 shows a 6A6 and I believe our sites historian Tim mentioned at one time that the difference is the length of the barrel section holding the cutlass. Tim? Art?

The control has been a big problem. The boat problem is just the "tip of the iceberg". However, I can just imagine the bigger problems I would have if the below would be true!!

I saw this last night and was trying to come up with a good wise acre comment...but you guys have used them all up.
Pete, it's time to train the kid to fix his own screw ups. For years me and my friend watched his father work on equipment. As kids we were never afraid of work, we could watch it all day. |

Be sure to use a stainless cotter pin on your prop. Anything else will rust pretty quickly. As much tubing as we all know that you do , we'd hate for you to lose that new OJ.
Joking aside, I hate that your weekend started off like that but it is comforting to know this kinda stuff just doesn't happen to me. |

Gotta love the irony, it was one shaft which created another shaft which eventually bent the shaft!

Not a good way to start the summer Pete, but I would suggest while you are doing all of that work to the Tique, check out those stringers while you are at it!
