A typical inboard Is about 7 degrees. mine has a 7 deg. cheese wedge factory with a carter AFB. It makes a nice level surface, except coming on plane. You can always cut a hole in the top, and add a snorkle!

Raise the dogbox. Attach a 2x4's to the floor where the box & hinges touch the floor and cover them with carpet.

I understand wedges come in 7.5 and 15 degrees.

If it fits it shouldn't hurt, the PO ran mine that way, but he also had changed the way the engine box was mounted so it was farther up from the floor level so I don't if it would have fit originally. I removed mine extra spacer and just put the wedge on when I put on the edelbrock intake because I don't want it to hit when I redo the engine box mounts, and my spacer was uglier than I wanted on my newly rebuilt engine.

I have installed and used both a wedgeplate and the original spacer on these engines with no problems on customers boats. You place the spacer in it's orginal location and place the "
wedge" on top of the spacer, followed by the carb. |

I've only seen one or the other installed. Having said that I'm sure someone will chime in who has both installed. If you have a spacer installed, and then install a wedge plate then chances are you'll have to change the rear float level to accomodate the change in angle. To check clearance stick a lump of clay on top your spark arrestor and then close the cowl.

No Tim, in fact I'll be replacing the wedge plate with a more suitable angled one but in any case I figured it would be better to have the longest intake runners we can fit under the dogbox. What say you?

Some guys are talking about losing some of the high rise effect by taking the spacer out and putting the wedge on. In my '82 Ski Tique do I have enough room to mount the wedge plate on top of the spacer? Is this sane? What angle is right for this boat? (I was sold a 15 degree plate in Oz and it looks too steep). I searched a lot of wedge plate topics but couldn't find an exact answer. Cheers all!
