Hello atom,
Ok, can you recommend a nationwide shop that I can ship to for most expert and best pricing? How much does this kind of thing cost once its out of the boat. My boys and I are speedy prop shaft rudder pullers and installers, ah life on the river, glass and snags! Thanks, Pat |

Pat,
Hopefully it's just an issue in the valving. Pull the selector out of the trans and check the spool and the condition of the O rings. However, I have a feeling there is a worse problem. The forward clutch pack plates are so warping that it won't come out of gear. The reason you get reverse is due to the reverse planetary gear set having a gear reduction. The reduction overcomes the drag of the forward clutch pack. I suggest a rebuild. |

Hello, my velvet drive does not go into neutral. With tran gear selector in the forward position(prop turning at idle) then shift to neutral position(no change), then when I move it into reverse position it reverse immediately (I know, this cannot be good for the tran).
I just bought the 1980's indmar 454 un named mid engine ski boat and I did change out the dex before starting it. The old dex looked clear and red (not pepto pink). Ok any ideas? do I warm up the wrenches and pull it and take it to a local sensei level borgster? I am in SF bay area. Thanks for taking the time Pat |
