Is the two position switch actually a 3 position? IE: off auto and on? |

The pump currently in the boat is a new manual pump with only two wires. I bought the matching float switch for the manual pump. I just can't figure how to wire it with a two position switch on the dash.

The auto pump should have 3 wires going to it. 1 wire will be a common ground. 1 will be the auto mode that the float will handle the on and off. It should be wired "hot" or powered all the time. The 3rd wire is switched at the dash for manual on and off.

I want to install an auto bilge switch in my 84 SN 2001. The original pump was replaced with a manual pump. There was a float switch in it before because the float bracket is still screwed to the bottom of the bilge. I have a matched float switch for the new manual pump. My question is how do I wire it with only a two position switch? The pump switch is only two position. Also there are two cut wires hanging in the bilge above the location of the existing bilge. Could this be the old wires to the float switch?
