Hi there, I'm in need of a Velvet Drive 10-17-004 for my 86, 2001. I have the core but I know it has broken teath on the planetary so I'm not sure it is usable to you as a core. I hope you have one, I hate seeing her sit LOL

It is not quick to rebuild them I like to do them 3 at a time to minimize press setups and parts charges, iirc it took about 12 hours labor for the last 3 - but I don't replace bushings or bearings unless necessary, and I have enough cores around that I don't machine or sleeve parts, if they are worn or tore up I just don't use them. To rebuild one would probably still take me 8+ hours. Clean up of the outside of the transmission and gasket surfaces alone takes a lot of time.

Joe I might take you up on that deal. I have a core (or 2).
It will be a few weeks before I can get there though. I'll send you an email. Out of curiosity, how long does it take you to rebuild them? |

I still have a couple velvet drives sitting in the shop that have been rebuilt with new clutches and seals, had bearings replaced where appropriate and are ready to go. As above 700 free and clear, 200 back if you provide me a rebuildable core.

This was a working transmission that came on a parts motor, it has been completely torn down, cleaned and inspected. It was re-assembled with all new seals and clutches. $700 plus shipping. Can be picked up in Auburn NY, or I can deliver it to any ccfan reunion I happen to be attending. Provide me a good reusable core and you can have it for 500. If its doesn't work upon installation, you pay to ship it back and I will pay to ship you another one.
