What Alan Said. Also are you using non Ethanol Fuel ? Some stations up here offer premium 90 to 93 octane with No Ethanol content. I work a an auto Restoration shop and every spring we get customers complaining about detonation. We ask about fuel and always get the I use Premium answer. We then ask from where... I do not know if this is offered where you are but you may want to look into it.

You can’t change the wind but you can adjust your sails

Not a Ford fellas.

I have a 5.7 Vortech with the Mercruiser HP stuff, High rise intake, Webber marine (AFB) 4bbl.
When I put it together I set the timing at 29* full advance. Now after about 50 hours running Im beginning to hear a a little ping.
I always run premium 93 oct. pump gas from the local Haji Mart and also tried a full tank MTBE from the fuel dock.
Still pings in the low power band, 3-4K then it clears up.

The thing runs absolutely flawless otherwise.

Thoughts / suggestions? Too high?
This is the high compression version. Tested at 213 psi cold.
