I don't know about re-wiring or bypassing, but I had the accessory pad go bad on mine right after I bought it and there was nothing to do but replace it. My understanding is that sometimes they just go bad, and when they do, you have no choice.
Now, if yours is only one button you may just have a bad button, but I don't know of anyone who's tried to take one apart...might work, but might also fry the whole thing. If you do need to replace one, the smart move would be to use one of our partners like N3 or NautiqueParts and utilize the discount they offer. 10% of $375 (off the top of my head what I remember) is a nice chunk of change. |

Well, the fact that it's just the one number, points to it just being the keypad, and not something deeper. Although, they are pricey enough on their own. From what I understand, you can't just wire in a plain old ignition switch in place of the key-pad. The pad is sending signals to the gateway box/dash computer, whatever you want to call it. Then the computer does the switching. So, you could rewire it, but it would be a full dash rewire, where you take the computer out of the loop. |

If the battery cables touch (no battery needed) it will fry the keypad.

I've seen a few threads on this topic, so apologies in advance for any rehashing of old topics.
I have a 2000 Air Nautique that I've owned since new. Last year when I went to use it for the first time, the keypad didn't want to work, but eventually it did. This year (today-yeah, late in the year I know but......) when I put the battery back in the boat (trickle charger all winter-the dot in the battery is green), the keypad didn't work. Specifically, the little light on the right hand side of the keypad lit up each time I pushed a number except the number "4". No light when pushing "4". The boat did not turn on, although the horn and the bilge blower work. I suppose I could replace the keypad, although I've never liked electronics in a boat.....and if it fails on the water, that could be really, really bad...... Is there any way to bypass the keypad, or the interlock feature of it? |
