Just woke up, I worked overnight in the ED. You guys are awesome...
I have a wad of wires all the same two colors. I traced this one set to the end and I yes I marked it light switch!!!!! Who knew I was a genius. It has a total of three butt splices that have long since rusted apart. All three with 8-10in. different colored wires. Yikes. It ultimately is the bow light. The horn was easy, and yes it is under the airbox cover. I will start a new thread in the diaries of the rebuild. That seems to be the appropriate place until I hit a snag. Rex |

Horn? Although mine is on the passenger side inside the air intake vent, your venting system is going to be different on an 81, but if it goes forward it has to be either for the horn, or the bow light.

Rex,
Where the wires originate will give you a BIG clue what they are for! Did you bother to check? |

Another possibility is that they go to the horn, which is under the bow airscoop if I am thinking of the right boat. There was a major change to the boat design around that time. Is yours called a 2001 series?

Rex first of all welcome to CCFan and great to hear you're restoring a 81. Be sure to take pictures of the restore and post them here. We love pictures! See that you're in NE Fla so you aren't far from our CCFan gathering we call the SJRR that we have in March so get the restore done in time to meet and play with a bunch of us CCFans on the river.
To answer your question it sounds to me like it's the wiring for the bow light. |

I am new to the forum. I have received excellent advice on the engine side and now have a question on hull wiring. I am in the process of a complete overhaul including replacing the stringers in a 1981 SN. I have removed the engine and transmission. I have labeled all the wiring and have taken tons of photos.
I have one set of wires under the dash that lead into the foam forward of the windshield on the drivers side. It appears to be a flat plate? Can anyone shed any light on what this is? Rex |
