Thanks guys!
Both speedo's work so I'm assuming it's the mounting bolts. Will get 4200. appreciated - Chow |

4200 or sikaflex would be better than 5200.
If thats whats leaking pull the platform, then the braces. Fill holes with 4200 then put a small bead around all the holes(like a gasket) then reinstall the brackets. |

It looks like a 12" piece of brass pipe with 1/8 hose barbs on each end, on your model it's mounted on the inside of the transom. If one of your speedo's don't work it could be the problem

Thanks Guys!
When resealing the lags, are you filling the holes in the transom with the 5200, then inserting the lags. Or, just externally bedding each of the mounting brackets. I'm hesitant to fill the holes with 5200 as I may need to remove the bolts again some day. I'll also play with speedo pickups/line etc. SNobsessed - 'expansion chamber'? - There's an expansion chamber in the speedo line? - no idea what you're refereing to. -Chow. |

My guess is the speedo tube or expansion chamber is leaking. Disable the pitot on that side & see if the leak stops to verify.

Chow, I'm not exactly sure how far the lags go in but when I pulled my swim platform off this spring I went to put it back on a resealed all screws and bolts with 3M 5200 marine sealant. You might want to start there. The lags definitely pull into the transome wood. Tony.

Hi everyone,
I'm noticing a trickle leak coming down from behind the tank, on top of the secondary stringer on the driver side. The only things I see in that area (besides the exhaust port) are the speedo pickup and platform bolts. As the platform bolts are lags, I'm doubting they come all the way thru the transom...correct? This is my first 2001 type hull. Are there any common suspects for this type of leak? Thanks! -Chow |
