I think you are correct. I have 2000 Sport with the keyless keypad, and nothing activates until I turn the engine on.

Just to add,,,,none of the gauges come to life??

Just got my 2002 Air Nauti Team. Been going over her getting familiar with all the mechanical and accessories. When I power up the key pad the fuel gauge does nothing and I cant tell how much fuel is in the tank,,,do I need to start the motor to make the fuel gauge activate and read amount of fuel. Im new on here and thank you for your help.
