Ok, found these two characters hiding where suggested. Tightened up the play a bit, but not 100%. Wonder if I can find a full Teleflex rack system still.

Ah ok, that makes more sense. I was trying to remove it, but it seems pretty cemented on. Probably hasn't been off in 20 years. I shall give it another college try now knowing that's where I need to be.
Thanks! |

I don't think you are getting to the area that is in question.
Remove the center cap and then undo the bolt that is holding on the steering wheel. Pop the steering wheel off and then that bellows will come off easily. Then you can get to the knuckle that might be loose. |

While replacing my steering cable, I decided to finally deal with the pesky play problem I have in my steering column (Teleflex rack system). I talked to a knowledgeable guy and he mentioned that it might be two nuts that have come loose at the knuckle (tilt steering). I peeled back the sleeve and everything seems tight in there. I can't access two bolts without ripping it apart, but they don't seem like they would effect play in the steering.
Any thoughts or ideas on play in the column? I know it's in the column as I have the cable disconnected at the moment and am just dealing with the column piece. Attached a pic for reference only as you really can't see much with the pic either. Thanks! Not sure how to make the pic a normal size. Just right click and download to your machine I guess if interested in viewing. |
