Thanks Art. I already have the new fuel filter with the cork gaskets at each end. The rubber washer I need replaced is part of the internal mechanism of the housing. It keeps the spring loaded metal plate in place. Photo here...

Hi guys, when I replaced my fuel filter in the beginning of summer, the original filter had the rubber washers but the new one I received were cork. Any reason why they would do that? Thanks

If I'm thinking of the correct filter, the rubber washer (which is actually nitrile material) comes on the replacement filter cartridge. If it's a Fram filter, you can probably get a new cartridge at your local auto parts dealer. I would try NAPA if there is one near you.
We used two different Fram filters, one about 10" tall with a two-section, water separating cartridge. Prior to that we used one about 6" tall with a paper-only cartridge. Take your old cartridge with you to the parts store. Art |

Hi,
I am in process of changing the fuel filter on my 84 Ski Nautique. I have the long cylinder canister with the orange top. After getting it apart I noticed that an internal rubber washer is ripped/torn up and not usable. This is the internal washer that helps seal and keep in place the spring loaded metal plate that rests up against the bottom of the actual filter. It fits down over the 1/2 inch center rod and is about 1 inch in diameter. Anyone know where I can get this replacement rubber washer? Thanks. |
