If it's a Warner Velvet Drive, I have a ton of good used parts for them.

If your old trans is a Dearbo Model C, I'd be interested in buying it.

No picture is understandable considering you aren't close to the boat but how about info of off the nameplate? Can your uncle provide that? |

No telling what you have for a trans without a picture. It could well be a velvet drive, but $5k is more than 2.5 times what they cost new. Where in Maine is your uncle?

Michael,
A picture sure would help as well as details on the trans. Most likely it's a Velvet drive. If your uncle took it to a automotive trans shop, he made a big mistake. A marine trans has very little in common with a auto trans. The shop not being able to find parts is a good indicator that they do not know what they are doing. Sorry!! The service manual on Velvet drives is in the CCfan reference section. It also includes a parts breakdown. |

My Uncle has a 1965 Correct Craft Mustang II with 289...awesome boat. one of the shafts in the gearbox got severely scored and needs to be replaced. A Transmission shop who said they could repair it cannot find replacement parts for this gearbox.
Anyone have this gearbox for sale!!! He will be forced to junk this classic as he cannot afford to spend the $5000 quoted for a new gearbox. Thanks |
