I've never had one fail, but I believe it is designed to dump fuel into that clear hose. There is an extra diaphragm in there to keep fuel from spilling into the bilge, I would be very surprised that it would leak out somewhere and none would get into the clear hose.

So I ordered a new fuel pump this morning from SkiDim. Then wifey and I took the boat out for the day. We noticed there was more fluid leaking on the fuel pump and bilge.
Turns out its oil, not fuel. There was several drops and it was running down the RW hose as well. I noticed one drip on the bottom of the oil pressure switch for the PCM. Its just above the sender and makes sense as to why it is wet on the upper fuel pump housing. We wiped it clean and ran the boat for a while, but no drips. I am going to keep an eye on it. I'm pretty sure its the pressure switch, but want to confirm before I waste any money. I was able to cancel my original order with SkiDim before they shipped it Thank God. |

It says Carter 0-3000 on the side of it. Is it normal to leak fuel at the screw holes? No idea how old the current pump is. I'm running a 4010 Holley as well.

Just replace it they are easy to get and as far as boats go cheap. I know of only 1 place that has parts for them and for marine ones they want to do the work. So when thats all said and done you could just get a new one.

While fixing another issue I noticed there was something leaking into the bilge. When I looked at the fuel pump I noticed there was something around the top portion of the pump body. I thought it was oil from the sender. I wiped everything down and ran the boat on the hose. It appears fuel is leaking through the screw holes in the fuel pump housing. Are these pumps rebuildable or do I simply replace it?
