Tim, I would love to do that sometime. I told my wife we had a invitation to go down to Georgia and she said " its way to hot down there. In May they have their air conditioners on!. She's a wuss though. I apologize. She loves the cool weather. Ill watch for a southern reunion. Tony.

True dat' Gary so I'll go a little easy on the comments about those white legs of your in March. After hanging round you guys for the last 10 years I totally get the insaneness of hitting the water as often as you can at the crack of dawn cause the season is so short for my northern brothers. Heck, I actually had to dig through the closet to find my uniform pants to wear to work. 9'F with highs of 27'F and 22MPH wind gusts was too much for to wear the usual short attire. The guys at work said.... "Holy Crap....it must be really cold outside if Foot is wearing pants!".... Highs are back in the 40's so the shorts are back on.

My Dad grew up on a farm in Iowa, met my mom at the University of Iowa, got married and eventually moved to Ohio. We were living (I was 2)in a small town on the Ohio River boardering West by God Virginia when Dad had enough of shoveling snow, freezing temps, working at a gas station for a living, so he loaded up the truck and moved to GA.
I don't mind playing in snow but I dang sure wouldn't wanna live it.
.     Tim, I spent a few summers at Ft. Bennington when I was 18 in basic training. Man was it hot! I'll never for get sweating my ass off in the middle of the night doing nothing but standing still. I smell evergreen trees around here in the summer and it really takes me back to the time I spent there. I still have a little problems with the heat here in Iowa if I don't drink enough water. For those of you who have never felt the heat in Georgia in the summer time...you either hydrate heavily or die. At least that's my experience. I hate winter here in Iowa but I love the spring summer and fall here. I would love to visit Georgia again. Tony.

Link to an article from the local newspaper. -18 air temp with -61 windchill measured at the end of the lake. I sure could use a little of that global warming about now.

Winter mix fuels are usually good to 0 but I don't trust that start adding about. 10-15 deg. Last few days I have seen 100s of trucks jelled up.Seems $20 is too much to spend to protect against this.Last thing I want is to spend 6-? HRS on the side of road waiting for service truck at 15 below with no heat.Up here in N Il wait is min 10-? for help

Be very very careful if you add gasoline it can explode with the smallest static spark. Gasoline fumes are to rich to easily ignite and diesel fumes are to lean. If you mix the two there is a chance you will get the perfect explosive mixture. A garbage truck driver here in Chicago found out the hard way. When he put the nozzle in the tank it exploded and he burned to death. Use anti gel fluid.
BTW my dad had a VW Rabbit way back in 79. He used to park it at the top of the parking garage ramp any time it was below 20 degrees so he would be able to coast down the ramp to start it. He had about 10 floors of ramp in his garage at work. We also put a lot of miles on my moms Buick pushing it at home. It got pretty good mileage though. Maybe that was due to all the coasting and pushing. Gasoline diesel explosion hazard

Don't know why your going to retire there, -26??? you'll get to use a boat by the time the ice melts at the end of July Will you have internet there when you make the move? Could you have got your truck into the shop and warmed it up yourself? I never had my VW gel but always worried about it,the manual advised you to add gasoline up to 10%,does that still apply?

I was up north between Christmas and New Years. The plan was to come home New Yeats day but that didn't work out. New years eve it went down to -26. The truck (diesel Suburban)started since the block heater was plugged in. I got the hose all drained the truck loaded and warming up in the driveway when it died!!! Even though I supposedly bought treated diesel plus adding the anti gel additive, I had gelled diesel. The only solution is to get it in a place to warm it up. My little father and son shop in town showed up the 2nd with a pickup and a yow strap. I asked him where his tow truck was and he said it was in his shop with gelled diesel!! LOL!! We came home Saturday the 3rd!

Chris you are exactly correct! My wife is an attorney and my neighbor is the Principle of a High School and you would not believe what goes on that we are not aware of. In this day and age, things are different and people want to point a finger at others and not themselves.

John - No, I don't have a legal case to cite regarding weather. Was just an opinion.

My wife works for the school system & knows of parents that are looking for the chance to sue about clerical errors, etc.

Thanks for setting me straight. I won't go there again.

HEAT WAVE this morning!!... Minus 10 and winds less than 10mph.

I finished plowing last night, minus 12 and wind was blowing 30+mph... didnt want to be out very long. I even left truck running while fueling it last night(I never do that)

It really does feel warm!

.....BONUS!!!!... Supposed to get above freezing by end of week. It's only done that a few times all winter.
