Could you post pictures or a list of the products you used? What is the brand and type of orbital? Of what type are the orbital diets? Where did you get the wet sanding disks for it? This type of data is very helpful for those who are looking to do this the first time.
Congrats, as the boat looks superb! |

Looks great. I know this job is in my near future, I'm just not ready to do it yet.

So, the first time I did a wet sand and polish, I think I didn't get aggressive enough, because the haze and chalky look seemed to come back. I decided to get a more aggressive and played around with a few ideas. Ultimately, I settled in on using an air sander (random orbital) and started with 600 grit film. I worked up through 800, 1000, 2000 all with the same type of film discs. Then I used 3M Super Duty with a wool pad, 3M Finnesse it, 3M Imperial Glaze and 3M marine wax. I finished with the Starbrite Marine Polish with PTEF. I got one side of the boat done this last year and plan to tackle the other side this year. Here are some pictures to show the results.
By the way, I removed all the striping as part of this process. [/URL] |
