New OK Gun Law

Andy i am a die hard 1911 fan, some of the custom carry 1911 bob tails and anti snag features are great , its so hard in the warmer months to conceal the majority of the pistols and revolvers on the market. nice to see something other than the old exposed hammer wheelguns or 3 shot jamming cheapo 22s for something you hope to never need

I checked out the S&W .380 and the Ruger lcp .380 very close. I liked the google reviews of the Ruger.

If I had the extra cash the Kimbar Custom Shop Ultra Carry .45 in the titanium finish is bad to the bone.

I love the Springfield's. We have an XD40. The XDs is one that I'm kinda eyeing along with the Beretta Nano.

I think this is a good idea. If you get a CCW here in GA, you get fingerprinted and they do a FBI/GBI background check on you. And most of these laws are aimed a t CCW permit holders. I’m not afraid of the law abiding CCW holder but they guy that packs and doesn’t have a permit…
Look at MARTA here in Atlanta. in 2008 ish they changed the law and allowed CCW permit holder to pack when using MARTA. Guess what, the crime rate went down, since the bad guy is faced with the possibility of his potential victim packing.

BTW Andy my preferred and every day carry gun is a Springfield XDs 9mm.

I believe more guns equals less crime. They have already tried disarming and gun free zones where has that got us (Chicago)? I think teachers or other staff members should be well trained and armed to protect against any threat. Here in Kennesaw GA you have to own at least one gun to live there. This was started in 1982 where do you think the crime level is today?

I agree with the idea of teacher being armed, but only some...and it being a mystery. It ties in to the idea of concealed carry...it's better knowing people COULD be carrying, but you aren't sure.

There are some situational trainings going on for teachers in various parts of the country. We will probably see that more and more.

Agree completely. I want to know my wife has a fighting chance while she is driving to and from work. She works nights and is 4' 11", not hard to overpower her. Her having a pistol in the car gives me a little piece of mind for her safety. Better to have a gun and not need it, then to need it and not have it. She keeps a cellphone stun gun in her purse at all times for situations where she's not near her firearm. Sad that this is the reality of the world we live in, but it is what it is.

It's sad that this is what we've come to as society.... Where did we go wrong that we need resource officers and metal detectors in schools? As a 80's HS graduate I can remember that the guys who were hunters had gun racks in their pickups and a rifle in the rack. We NEVER had the issues that we are faced with today. If a fight broke out for whatever reason...you did the whooping or got the whooping and that was the end of it. No worries about retaliation with a hand gun, knife or anything.

I've got no problem with a firearm in the glovebox on school property.

I see this as more of an easing of the restrictions on where people can carry. I'm not expecting this will allow my wife to go neautralize the threat in a school shooting situation. I see this as now she could carry in the vehicle, if she wants, so she could handle a situation between school and home, if the need were to arise.

If my wife/child was in a shooting situation while teaching or at school, if she could reach her car I would want her to get in it and get the heck out of there, not run back in armed!! Leave the hero business up to the heroes, slippery slope. On the other hand, if I was in the same situation there is no way I am not going back in to do something, slippery slope magnified.

I don't see an issue. I think the crazies might think twice about going into schools if they knew every teacher/admin was armed, But who knows they are crazy anyways.

If I was married and had a wife that say worked at a school in a bad part of town I would want her to have protection in the vehicle.

A modification (HB 2329) to our Oklahoma Self-Defense Act has been authored and passed by the house. One of the changes allows permit holders to possess a gun, in a locked vehicle, on public school property.

My wife is about to start teaching and I love this idea. I didn't like the idea that she could not carry in her vehicle, if she wanted to.
