Marty, I say go for it! I'd buy at least one. Might want to nail down a brand/model of jack in case you want to make more in the future!

Another Jack
Yes Gary- Also what Tim said about trying to replicate the OEM look. For me fabbing up the plate- with the slip over pipe- wouldn't be that hard. Getting a foot(wheel) then would be about another $10. |

Gary, I would imagine that the eBay one is close enough as far as dimensions go. There are only a handful of options that look sort of like the old ones. If the throw is too short, put a block under the wheel!
New jacks installed on the outside of the frame rail certainly do twist the frame (as evidenced by the lean). The further they are from the center line, the more they twist. If you want to eliminate this, you can put the jack on the inside of the frame as far forward as possible- you just lose the ability to swing away. If anyone is going to bother recreating the original look, it's going to be mostly for aesthetics... might as well go all the way! |

Would not fool you but at least they would work,I swear that the swing away one I have makes the trailer lean. So is it confirmed that the ebay one has the same diamentions?

You won't fool me, Marty- but don't let that stop you! To really recreate the original look, you'd want to weld that new bracket onto some tubing and install that over the body of the jack, and then weld it on. You'd have to cut off the old bracket too, of course... Probably a few man hours in that project!

Mr. Starr,
These OEM CC Jacks are roughly 23" in height and have about a 15"-17" travel. The plate that it's welded to that bolts on the trailer is roughly 5" x 7" x 4". I just might try and get a couple then fabricate the plate- and say- "WOW" Tim- look what I found ! |

Tim can you get the measurements off of yours like they did in the ebay ad so we can see how close they measure up? Thanks

Yeah, those would work fine and look ok once you add a custom bracket... The CC trailers in question predate the standard a-frame mount pattern, so you can't use one as-is. Not a bad back up plan if I can't find a few more originals! Still looking for a few, not in a huge rush.

I recently acquired this jack from dangerwill and I sure do like it... I have 2 or 3 more trailers from the late 60's and early 70's that would look good with one of these as well. If you have one laying around, functional or not, please let me know. If you have one installed and you're indifferent on originality, I'll buy you a new swing away!
